Transformer Tank Manufacturing Process
Transformer tank manufacturing is a precision engineering process requiring high quality, leak-tightness, and durability. Production is carried out in the following stages, in accordance with customer demands and international standards:
1. Design and Engineering
The production process begins with a review of the customer's technical drawings and specifications. 3D modeling and engineering calculations are performed based on transformer capacity, cooling type (ONAN, ONAF, etc.), and installation details. Mechanical strength and leak-tightness analyses are also performed during this stage.
2. Material Preparation
In line with the approved design, high-quality sheet metal (usually S235JR or similar grade steel) is selected. The sheets are cut to the drawing dimensions using CNC plasma or laser cutting machines and prepared for manufacturing.
3. Bending and Forming
The cut sheet metal parts are shaped into the desired shape using hydraulic presses and roll bending machines. This stage requires great precision in the production of flat-walled, oval tanks, or special-shaped bodies.
4. Welding Processes
All components are joined using MIG/MAG or TIG methods by certified welding operators. After welding, the surfaces are cleaned, and the weld seams are checked visually, ultrasonically, or with penetrant tests to ensure leak-tightness.
5. Accessory Installation
Expansion tank connections, cable boxes, valves, oil gauges, pressure relief valves, and other equipment connections are installed on the boiler. All connection points are machined in accordance with standards.
6. Leakage and Pressure Tests
Once the welding and assembly processes are completed, the boilers are subjected to air pressure leak testing. This test is typically performed with water or air at 1 bar. Even the smallest leaks are detected and repaired.
7. Surface Cleaning and Painting
Boiler surfaces are sandblasted (to SA 2.5 standard), followed by the application of an industrial primer and topcoat. This process provides long-lasting protection against rust and external factors.
8. Final Inspection and Shipment
Products that pass all quality tests are prepared for shipment after dimensional and visual inspections. The product is packaged to prevent damage during shipping and assembly.
